On February 6, 2025, the first Ondo Summit 2025 was held in New York, organized by Ondo Finance. The event brought together leading representatives from traditional finance and the blockchain industry to discuss the integration of these sectors. Among the participants were well-known figures such as Nathan Allman, CEO of Ondo Finance, and Mike Novogratz, CEO of Galaxy Digital. The summit also featured representatives from major investment firms, including Franklin Templeton, Wellington Management, and Fidelity.
One of the key moments of the summit was a fireside chat with Caroline D. Pham, Acting Chair of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), where she discussed blockchain regulation prospects.
World Liberty Financial to Launch a “Strategic Reserve” of Crypto Assets
Chase Herro, co-founder of World Liberty Financial, announced this initiative during the Ondo Summit. In recent months, World Liberty Financial has been actively acquiring ETH, wBTC, TRX, AAVE, LINK, and other tokens.
During the event, Donald Trump Jr. stated:
“We really need to create an environment where cryptocurrencies— which I believe are the future of finance— are available to us, where there is an understanding of what they are, but at the same time, there is no excessive regulation by people who don’t know what they’re talking about…”
He also added:
“Cryptocurrency is the future of American hegemony.”
Earlier, David Sacks remarked:
“A sovereign wealth fund may add Bitcoin and other digital assets to its portfolio.”
Galaxy Digital CEO Mike Novogratz at the Ondo Finance Summit
A mass listing of crypto companies on NYSE and Nasdaq is expected in May–June. The U.S. could establish a strategic BTC reserve within six months. A major sovereign wealth fund is ready to invest $500 million in crypto assets.
What else did Mike Novogratz say?
The Galaxy Digital CEO casually mentioned that two weeks after the elections, he had lunch with the head of one of the largest sovereign wealth funds—just the way truly wealthy executives do. He suggested that if the U.S. starts buying Bitcoin (even at a governmental level, which he promised to discuss later), many of these funds would want to join in as well.
“He wrote his first check for $500 million just to try it out,” Novogratz said.
Imagine the impact if even a tiny fraction of the $500 trillion in global assets moves into cryptocurrency.
