Congressmen have called on the U.S. government to block the Hamas group’s access to its cryptocurrency wallets.
According to the Washington Post, more than 100 American politicians believe that the administration of Joe Biden has the necessary powers and can detect and then block addresses affiliated with radical Islamist groups.
In early October, it became known that Israeli law enforcement agencies blocked several cryptocurrency wallets associated with Hamas structures.
Blockchain company Elliptic found out that Islamist structures attracted more than $130 million in digital currencies. These funds may have been used to finance extremist activities.
Congress is calling on the US government to take action to identify the addresses and freeze the funds held on them.
