Hackers from the Lazarus group control $47 million worth of cryptocurrencies

Chainalysis has revealed that North Korean hackers have stolen digital currencies totaling $340 million in 2023.

According to Dune Analytics, a wallet affiliated with hacker group Lazarus Group hosts digital currencies totaling $47 million.

$42.5 million is stored in bitcoin.

The remaining funds are split between stablecoins, Binance Coin (BNB) and ether (ETH).

The amount of cryptocurrency held by DPRK cybercriminals has decreased noticeably over the month. In early September, their wallets held $86 million worth of digital assets.

Dune Analytics analyzed data on 295 wallets that the US Federal Bureau of Investigation links to hackers from North Korea.

The analysts noted that the cybercriminals did not invest the stolen funds in private altcoins such as Monero (XMR) and ZCash (ZEC).
