Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong published an article in late May criticizing the U.S. government for its slowness in legalizing the digital currency market.
In an interview with The Wall Street Journal last week, the head of the cryptocurrency exchange said that U.S. authorities will still implement a regulatory framework for the blockchain industry.
The process may take some time, but eventually the country will choose the right path.
Coinbase was the subject of a lawsuit launched early last week by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
The regulator accuses the exchange of handling transactions in digital assets that the SEC recognizes as securities.
Brian Armstrong stressed: “The assets we trade are commodities, so they don’t require registration. We only trade crypto-commodities on our exchange.”
